Opening ceremony for park named in honour of Beach ‘mayor’ Gene Domagala set for today

Gene Domagala (The Mayor of The Beach) will be honoured at a ceremony today for the official opening of an East Toronto park being named after him.

The new Gene Domagala Park is located at 144 Stephenson Ave., just southwest of the intersection of Main Street and Danforth Avenue. Today’s ceremony will take place at 4 p.m.

A local historian, community champion, volunteer, and columnist for Beach Metro Community News, the park is another honour for Domagala who also has a laneway named after him in the Main Street and Gerrard Street East area.
