Polls open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. for today’s Beaches-East York federal byelection
Today is Election Day in the Beaches-East York federal byelection, with polls open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31.
Six candidates are running to become the new MP for Beaches-East York after former MP Nathanial Erskine-Smith stepped down from the position on July 7.
The candidates are Shannon Devine of the NDP; Michel Lachance of the People’s Party of Canada; Bruce Livesey of the Green Party; Tanveer Shahnawaz of the Liberal Party; Jim Syrbos of the Conservative Party; and Cameron Thomas of the Canadian Future Party.

Along with Beaches-East York, federal byelections are also taking place today in the ridings of Chicoutimi-Le Fjord in Quebec, and North Vancouver-Capilano in British Columbia.
