Advance polls for Scarborough Southwest provincial byelection open until 8 p.m. tonight

The final day of advance polls for the Scarborough Southwest provincial byelection is Friday, Aug. 28.

Voters wishing to cast their ballot in an advance poll for the upcoming provincial byelection in Scarborough Southwest have until 8 p.m. tonight (Friday, Aug. 28) to do so.

The three days of advance polls opened on Aug. 26, and will remain open until 8 p.m. tonight. The hours for the advance polls are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters in the riding can find their advance voting locations by visiting the Elections Ontario website at https://www.elections.on.ca/.

Election Day for the Scarborough Southwest provincial byelection is Thursday, Sept. 3, and the polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day.

Voters who want to cast their ballot before Election Day can also do so in person at the Scarborough Southwest Elections Office, 2685 Kingston Rd. (southwest corner of Brimley Road South), up until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Voting hours at the elections office are between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, Monday, Aug. 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 1; and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30.

Voters will be required to present ID that shows their name and residential address. Alternatively, voter information cards, whether physical or digital, will count as proof of address alongside one other piece of ID showing the voter’s name. Candidates running in the Scarborough Southwest provincial byelection are Mark Bekkering of the Green Party; Gord Elliott of the Ontario Party; Ahsanul Hafiz of the Liberal Party; Independent candidate Michael Perdelwitz; Chris Rees of the New Blue Party; Fatima Shaban of the New Democratic Party; and Noor Tarun of the Progressive Conservative Party.
