Prospective homeowners can now apply for one of 33 attainable homes being built at 355 Coxwell Ave. as Habitat for Humanity GTA marked the completion of the building’s structural frame with a ceremony last week.
The July 7 ceremony came less than nine months after Habitat for Humanity GTA officially broke ground on the six-storey modular condominium project on the northeast corner of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East. The building is expected to welcome residents in the second quarter of 2027.
The development will provide 33 below-market attainable homeownership for eligible Toronto households, creating new avenues for residents who have struggled to find affordable and accessible homes.
“Today’s milestone is about more than reaching the top of a building. It’s about reaching the moment when future homeowners can begin to see themselves here. Less than nine months ago, we celebrated the beginning of construction. Today, we’re opening the door for individuals and families to begin their own journey toward homeownership,” said Ene Underwood, CEO for Habitat for Humanity GTA in a July 7 news release.
The building was announced in 2025, lauded as the first project under the Ontario-Toronto New Deal.
Habitat for Humanity GTA partnered with the City of Toronto and the Government of Ontario, putting forward a $14.9 million investment and giving Toronto residents in the 70th income percentile the opportunity to become homeowners.
