Spring Bird Festival set for this Saturday at Tommy Thompson Park

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is inviting bird watchers and nature lovers to Tommy Thompson Park this Saturday, May 9, for the annual Spring Bird Festival.
From 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., guests of all ages will be able to enjoy a variety of free activities, presentations, and even guided walks, to learn more about migrational behaviours and bird conservation initiatives.
The guided walks will begin at 7 a.m and will visit the park’s Bird Research Station and key viewing areas, giving participants an opportunity to spot and learn more about some of the species that call Tommy Thompson Park home.
An important stop in bird migratory routes, Tommy Thompson Park on Lake Ontario is home to more than 50 breeding species, and more than 334 recorded species.
The park, at the foot of Leslie Street, was declared a globally significant important bird area by BirdLife International, and in 2025 received the New Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award for global excellence in ecological restoration.
No registration is required for this Saturday’s Spring Bird Festival.
