Police seek suspect after man allegedly assaulted while on streetcar near Coxwell Avenue and Queen Street East

Toronto police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with an investigation into an alleged assault causing bodily harm incident that took place on Victoria Day long weekend in the Beach.

According to police, officers responded to a call for a reported assault on Sunday, May 17, at 7:52 p.m. in the area of Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue.

Police said the suspect and victim were on a streetcar in the area. Allegedly, a man assaulted the victim unprovoked before fleeing the area, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as mid to late 20s, with a slim build and dark twists in his hair. He was last seen wearing a basketball jersey, black pants, running shoes, and a black crossbody bag.

Images of the suspect have been released in the hopes that someone will make police aware of his whereabouts.
