The Borough FC soccer team hosts home opener this Saturday night at Birchmount Stadium

The Borough FC, Scarborough’s pro-am soccer team, hosts it home opener tonight at Birchmount Stadium against North Mississauga SC.
The Saturday, May 2, match kicks off at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.
Birchmount Stadium is located on the northeast corner of Kingston and Birchmount roads.
The Borough FC is in its third season of competition and will be playing this year in the Ontario Premier Leage 2 (which is the league’s second division). The team will play 22 games (11 at home and 11 on the road) in the //-team OPL2. The top team after the regular season will advance to the OPL1 league, the top division.
A locally owned non-profit sports team, The Borough FC features a mix of professional and amateur players.
“As we kick off a new season, our focus remains on bringing people together through the game, creating a space where the Scarborough community can connect, belong, and take pride in something shared,” said Andrew Ornoch, The Borough FC’s President and Founding Partner, in a news release. “Scarborough is a special and unique place, and we hope families come out all spring and summer to enjoy matchdays at Birchmount, get invested in the journey, and be part of what we’re building together.”
Entering tonight’s match, The Borough FC already have a pair of wins to their credit. The local lads beat Whitby FC in an OPL Cup game earlier this year, and also won their season opener of April 17 with a 4-3 decision over Hamilton United in the Steel City.
So far this season, new signing Nigel Buckley has been a standout performer for The Borough FC over the first two games, scoring four goals. He was the OPL’s top scorer last year with 25 goals for Whitby.
Buckley joins several new additions in the off season, including midfielder Matthew Fischer, a former U-SPORTS all-star and CPL U-SPORTS draft selection, midfielder Amadu Kamara, forward Gianluca Scurtiand goalkeeper Joshua Naraine. The Borough FC also welcomes back a host of returning players including veteran midfielder Victor Munoz, sophomore defender Rex Cobbina, and midfielder Diade Traore, the club’s 2025 Player of the Season.
Since its inception in 2024, The Borough FC has always been a community-focused club, supporting Scarborough community organizations and promoting Scarborough businesses. In 2026, The Borough FC will give back to the community by hosting more than 30 school clinics in Scarborough throughout the season. These sessions focus on technical soccer skills while reinforcing positive life skills and healthy, active lifestyles.
One of the club’s proudest community initiatives is the creation of the We Are Scarboroughzone, which brings together youth affiliates at each of team’s home games.
The newest member of the We Are Scarborough zone is Scarborough Simbas, a recreational soccer program powered by Muslim Children’s Aid and Support Services (MCASS). Joining Scarborough Simbas in the zone are Canada First Academy (CFA), Scarborough Arts, Dutch Connections FC, North Scarborough SC, West Rouge SC, Scarborough Athletic SC, and many more.
While The Borough FC’s matches at Birchmount Stadium are free to attend, supporters must register in advance so that the club can provide an enjoyable game-day experience for all. Fans must register in advance for a 2026 Season Membership Pass or a Single Match Ticket. Both options are completely free. Registration will help the club organize entry and forecast attendance. Supporters can claim their free pass or free match ticket online at https://tickets.theboroughfc.com/
