Deja Views: Springtime in Kew Gardens

The above photo, taken in the mid 1970s, shows spring tulips in front of the Kew Williams House in Kew Garden. The photographer is unknown.

By far my favourite house in the Beach. I love the Queen Anne Revival architectural style with its turrets and extended verandas. The Kew Williams House (AKA the Honeymoon House, the Gardener’s Cottage) was built for Williams’ wife, Bertha Curran, as a gift in 1902.

In six short years, the park (and house) were sold to the city. For decades the house had been the residence for Kew Gardens groundskeeper.

This image above was taken on a spring day some time in the mid 1970s by an unknown photographer.

Today, the house is closed to the public, but on occasion it will host local art exhibitions and craft sales.
