Final Evangeline’s Walk fundraiser for Covenant House Toronto slated for this Thanksgiving weekend

East Toronto resident Evangeline Link is preparing for her fifth annual 100-kilometre walk this Thanksgiving long weekend in support of Covenant House Toronto.

She first started doing the walk in 2022 at the age of 10 and has raised more than $53,000 since.

Link, now 14, has also decided that this will be her last year doing the walk.

This final walk will take her three and a half days over the Thanksgiving weekend. As usual, Link will walk from her grandparents’ house in Binbrook, which is just past Hamilton, back to her home in Leslieville.

She’ll start on Friday, Oct. 9, and finish on Monday, Oct. 12.

All the proceeds will go to Covenant House, which is the largest agency in Canada serving youth who are experiencing homelessness.

This year, Link will be sleeping in a tent at the end of her third day of walking, which is always the hardest day, to bring even more attention to the struggles unhoused youth face and Covenant House’s important work.

Her website says she loves how this organization helps to protect and rebuild lives, giving youth opportunities she knows she already has.

The walk is sponsored by Toronto Hydro, The Roy, The Pantry, and Anderson Press.

In 2025, Link invited others to walk with her and do their own fundraising. Family and friends who joined her raised more than $2,100.

Once again, others are welcome to join her cause at whatever walking distance is comfortable. Those interested are asked to create their own fundraising page and let Link know what day they would like to join.

This year, Evangeline Walks has a personal fundraising goal of $15,000, and hopes to reach $20,000 with the help of others fundraising.
