Public invited to meet 12 Beaches-East York council candidates on Oct. 5

Beach Metro Community News and the Balmy Beach Residents’ Association are inviting residents to meet the candidates running for Toronto City Council in Ward 19, Beaches-East York.

The Beaches-East York Municipal Candidate Meet and Greet will take place Monday, Oct. 5, at Beach United Church, 140 Wineva Ave. Doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m.

With 13 candidates in the race, this year’s event will use a meet-and-greet format rather than our traditional Q&A town hall format.

The evening will begin with a welcome and brief introduction of the candidates, along with an opportunity for each candidate to deliver an opening message. After that, residents will be able to circulate through the room, visit candidates at their individual tables, ask questions and speak with them directly about issues that matter to the community.

All candidates were invited. Twelve candidates have confirmed they will attend. In alphabetical order, they are: Syeda Janna Ali, James Dann, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Natalie Johnson, Kevin Morrison, Karsten Riedel, Mohammad Shabani, Adam Smith, Austin Vieira, Jeff Wahl, Devin Wilkins and Jennie Worden.

The open meet-and-greet will run until 9 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Beach United Church’s Main Hall is fully accessible. A Green P parking lot is located adjacent to the church.
