Toronto Votes 2026: Deadline to apply to vote by mail in the municipal election is Sept. 24
The City of Toronto has issued a notice informing residents of the approaching registration deadline for residents who wish to vote by mail in next month’s municipal election
Elibible residents will have until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, to apply for the mail-in voting option.
Voters can request to vote by mail by visiting the Toronto Elections website at www.toronto.ca/Elections, by emailing VotebyMail@toronto.ca, or by calling 311.
Voter Information Cards (VIC) have been mailed to those on the voters’ list as of midnight on Sunday, Sept. 20. A VIC provides detailed information about when and where to vote during advance voting days or on Election Day.
Those who do not receive a VIC, but wish for their names to appear on the printed voters’ list used at polling stations, must submit their updated information by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11.
Having a listed name on the voters’ list will speed up the voting process. Beyond this date, eligible voters with acceptable identification can add their names to the voters’ list when they go to vote during advance voting days (Tuesday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 11), and on Election day (Monday, Oct. 26).
