Topham Park girls U13 team wins provincial softball championship
The Topham Park U13 girls softball team recently won the provincial championship tournament.
The team from East York’s Topham Park Minor Softball League took part in the provincial championships in Windsor on the weekend of Aug. 22 and 23.
The Topham Park girls beat Kingsville Knights 12-6 in the championship game in Windsor.
At the provincials Topham Park notched a perfect 6-0 record, winning every game they played.
Winning the provincial championship was the icing on the cake of an excellent season for the Topham Park U13 girls team as they had a record of 27 wins and only three losses.
The Topham Park Minor Softball League is a volunteer-run community softball association that runs girls, boys, co-ed and adult softball leagues. It has been playing in the Topham Park neighbourhood since 1973.
Members of this year’s provincial championship U13 girls team are Adah Badenoch-Lanthier, Ella Burk, Maddy Cheeseman, Keira Delemere, Kaitlyn Edelberg, Lauren Hillmer, Louisa Hunter, Ella Nesbitt, Annabel Pyper, Charlie Staley, Abby Tullett and Katherine Weng.
The team’s coaches are Chris Badenoch, Matt Cheeseman and Jason Hunter.
