Wheels on the Danforth festival and car show set for Saturday, Aug. 15

Wheels on the Danforth street festival and car show returns Saturday, Aug. 15.

The show will feature hundreds of classics, hot rods, muscle cars, tuners, movie cars, race cars, and exotics. Admission is free. 

Hundreds of cars will line the streets, with awards and cash prizes up for grabs.

Presented by Crossroads of the Danforth BIA, the event includes two car shows and two live music stages, plus food, vendors and a Kids’ Zone. 

It takes place on Danforth Avenue at Danforth Road. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the classic car show runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., followed by the evening car show from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

At the Long & McQuade Entertainment Stage on Byng Avenue the rock band The Monroes will play at 11 a.m., with Islandside closing the stage at 8 p.m. Stop by the Main Stage at Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road for Steve Waters Band, Steven’s Garage, a Tragically Hip Tribute Show, and more. The awards will also take place at the Main Stage at 3 p.m.

Kicking off the festival is a free movie night at Oakridge Park on Friday, Aug. 14. Join the fun with a screening of Jumanji: The Next Level from 6-11pm. Oakridge Park is located at 3459 Danforth Ave. 

Danforth Avenue will be closed from Warden Avenue to Byng Avenue and Danforth Road will be closed from Leyton Avenue to Danforth Avenue.

The Danforth 113 and Cliffside 20 buses will be diverted down Victoria Park along Gerrard St. and up Warden Avenue. The nearest bus stops will be at Warden Avenue and Danforth Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue and Danforth Avenue. The event is closest to Victoria Park Subway Station. Once outside of the station, walk south on Victoria Park Avenue and turn East (left) on Danforth Avenue.
