Overnight closures of Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Boulevard East ramps planned for July 13 to 24

East Toronto residents will need to adjust their routes to and from Lake Shore Boulevard East and the Don Valley Parkway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting this Sunday, July 13, and continuing through to July 24.
The overnight closures are to allow for the reconstruction of new on and off ramps and the work is the final step before the opening of the widened Lake Shore Bridge and an improved roadway. Construction is expected to ease traffic flow across the Lake Shore and is critical for the area’s flood protection initiatives.
To help reduce congestion, traffic flow mitigation measures that will be implemented include adjusting stoplight timing, temporarily removing on-street parking, coordinating with other construction projects to avoid overlap, and the presence of traffic control agents.
Drivers approaching from the east and wishing to head northbound on the DVP at night are advised to use the Queen Street on-ramp, accessible from Carlaw Avenue.
Southbound DVP drivers can access Lake Shore Boulevard East by using the Richmond Street off-ramp and then heading south on Parliament Street.
When this phase of construction is finished, the long-term plan is to relocate the Gardiner Expressway’s on and off ramps at Logan Avenue to Cherry Street. That work is expected to begin in 2026 as part of the Gardiner East Project.
