Annual Lieutenant Governor Games set for Variety Village this Friday

The 37th annual Lieutenant Governor Games are set for Scarborough this Friday.
The Games are a fun way for young people to get together and play games at Variety Village in Scarborough. The event is inclusive for students of all abilities, and has schools and groups come together for the day.
With both co-operative and competitive sports, the Lieutenant Governor Games allow participants to discover their athletic potential and make new friends.
“The Games offer a wonderful opportunity to empower young people and develop their abilities through teamwork,” said Ontario Lt.-Gov. Edith Dumont in a news release. “When athletics become accessible, competition-and collaboration-create community.”
The Games take place on Friday, Feb. 28, at Variety Village, 3701 Danforth Ave.
Variety – the Children’s Charity of Ontario provides equal opportunities for participation in recreational and sports for people of all abilities.
“Through these Games, we aim to ignite a passion for sports and open the door children to explore new opportunities,” said Charlie Johnstone, President and CEO of Variety.
“This is more than just a day of competition; it’s about fostering inclusivity, building confidence, and inspiring our future athletes – whether they choose to join local recreational leagues or pursue careers at the Parlympic or Special Olympics level.”
