A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into an alleged indecent act that took place by the playground in Kew Gardens park yesterday afternoon.
Police said the incident was reported to police at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11.
A number of people in the area observed a man allegedly committing an indecent act close to some young girls who were inside the fenced playground area. The man was allegedly on the outside of the playground by the fence, and his photo was taken by some observant witnesses.
When police arrived at the park, they were shown photos of the man and officers searched the area but did not find him.
Photos and a video of the incident were widely circulated on The Beaches Toronto Facebook Group yesterday evening.
According to Const. Victor Kwong with Toronto Police Corporate Communications, officers were back at the park this morning (Wednesday, April 12) and spotted the man they were looking for.
“On April 12, at around 9 a.m., officers found him back in the area,” Kwong told Beach Metro Community News today.
Samuel Johnson, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested and has been charged with committing an indecent act. He was scheduled to appear in court earlier today.
