The city’s 14th and 15th homicides took place on east Danforth on March 19.
At 8:44 p.m., police responded to calls for a shooting at 2215 Danforth Ave. When officers arrived they found two men lying on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at St. Michael’s Hospital.
The victims have been identified as Jonathan Stefan Khan, 21, and Shawn Chestnut-Reddick, 22. No further information had been released at press time.

Police are warning parents to keep a watchful eye on their children after a suspicious incident at Secord Elementary School on March 26.
At 12:15 p.m., a staff member at the school, on Barrington Avenue, noticed a man near the southern area of the school. When the staff member tried to approach the man, he walked away in a casual manner, leaving behind a bag filled with small dollar store children’s toys.
At about 12:30 p.m., the same man returned to the same area of the school. When staff tried to approach him, he again walked away.
The man was not seen with or talking to any children, but police are concerned he might have had contact with children while staff attention was diverted.
No accurate description of the man is available, though he was wearing black pants and a black jacket at the time. Anyone with any information should contact 54 Division police at 416-808-5400, or use the Crime Stoppers information above.

The provincial Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a 31 year-old man was injured near Kingston Road and Midland Avenue.
The initial information released by the SIU is that Toronto police officers were in an unmarked vehicle, investigating a man alleged to be breaking into parked vehicles. When the officers identified themselves, the man ran away.
Officers in the unmarked vehicle followed the man a short distance, and there was contact between the man and the police vehicle. The man was taken to Toronto East General Hospital for treatment of a serious injury, and later released into police custody.
A total of four investigators from the SIU are looking into the incident. Any witnesses are asked to call 416-622-1988 or 1-800-787-8529 ext. 1988.
The SIU investigates incidents involving police in Ontario where death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault take place.

A Dawes Road dollar store was robbed on March 16. Just before 8 p.m., a male suspect armed with a gun and wearing a disguise entered the store. He hopped over the counter and knocked the owner to the ground, then took coins and lottery tickets and fled the scene. The victim was unhurt.
