This archival photograph depicts the unveiling ceremonies for the First World War memorial at Malvern Collegiate in May, 1922. The entire school body and the Lieutenant Governor Henry Cockshutt (seen next to the statue in grey coat) were in attendance to honour the 25 former Malvern students who paid the ultimate price for their country.
Over the years the statue has deteriorated. Today there is a concerted effort by the community to raise funds for its restoration. Please donate to the War Memorial Fund, Malvern C.I. (www.canadahelps.org). Special thanks to Sonya Munro and Malvern Principal Line Pinard for their help and assistance.
