Double Toronto Contra Dance

Wondering whether you should join us for the advanced dance? At this dance, it is assumed that you are comfortable with all the common moves and can dance them on the fly (even if called without the caller walking the dance through beforehand). A hey should feel fun (not scary or disorienting) and it should be rare that anyone would need to help you get reoriented during a dance. If that sounds like you, please come!
If you’re thinking of bringing a beginner that day, we’d love to see them at the evening dance. Make sure they attend the intro to contra lesson at 7pm so that they have the most fun possible during the dance (and get free entry to the next regular evening dance).
✨ On stage:
Caller Jennie Worden guiding the dances, with Tom Santarsiero, Alex Fortier, Cat Sloboda – setting the groove and keeping the floor in motion all day long.
🕖 Evening timeline:
Afternoon – Advanced dance (2pm to 5pm)
Evening – Regular dance (Intro lesson 7pm, dance 7:30 to 10:30pm)
😷 Mask-Mandatory
💧 Bring a refillable water bottle
🥟 Samosas will be ready (arrive early if you want one!)
Afternoon & Evening dances are priced separately.
Sliding scale: $7–$35 (kids 16 & under free)
It costs about $22 per dancer to make these nights happen—your support, generosity, and word-of-mouth keep the community strong.
