Multi-instrumentalist Benton Roark and conductor Kathleen Allan have conceived an immersive concert unlike anything you’ve heard before.
Illuminating the common ground between voices of the past and visions of the future, this Toronto-based polyphonic fusion ensemble brings revolutionary medieval chants and contemporary works from their new record, Transfigured Light, to the Kingston Road Stage. Two parts, three cities, five commissions, and seven years in the making, this epic project has been called “genre-bending,” “vigorously uplifting” (Vancouver Observer) and a “spellbinding journey” (The Georgia Straight). Alongside motets by Hildegard, de Lassus, and Vicentino, Canadian composers Benton Roark, Curtis Andrews, Tova Kardonne, and more find voice in the all-star Toronto band featuring chamber choir, electric guitar, keyboards, violin and cello.
