Full closure of Don Valley Parkway set to take place this weekend

East Toronto residents need to be aware there will be a full closure of the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) this weekend for maintenance work.
The DVP will be fully closed from Hwy. 401 to the Jarvis Street ramp on the Gardiner from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8, until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 11.
The City of Toronto said in a media release that the closure is part of the city’s long-term strategy to maintain expressway infrastructure, reduce future disruptions, and prepare for major events such as the FIFA World Cup (which begins in June).
Crews will be working on general maintenance such as repairing potholes, replacing guardrails, and repainting lanes.
Taking public transit is recommended for those heading downtown this weekend for events.
Local residents should also be aware that a full closure of the Don Valley Parkway usually results in increased traffic along local roads such as Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road, as drivers heading into and out of the city seek alternative routes.
