Beach Photo Club happy to welcome new members at twice monthly meetings

If you enjoy taking photos or are want to sharpen your photography skills — whether with a smartphone, a compact camera, or a full professional setup — there’s a friendly place in the Beach community where your interest can grow.

The Beach Photo Club is a small, social group of enthusiasts who meet twice a month on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m., September to June, at Beach United Church (140 Wineva Ave.) to explore the art and fun of photography together.

The next meeting is slated for Thursday, Jan. 22.

Each meeting offers something different. Throughout the season, guest presenters bring fresh perspectives, techniques, and stories from the wider photography world. These talks are a great way to spark new ideas and build photography skills.

The club also hosts regular competitions, designed not to intimidate but to encourage growth. Feedback is constructive, supportive, and often eye-opening — many members say it’s their favourite part of the club.

Members also participate in brief critique sessions. “I find these a great chance to learn from one another and see my photographs from new perspectives,” said member Marion Ferrie.

Beach Photo Club exhibitions give members the chance to see their work displayed alongside others in the community. Whether it’s your first time exhibiting or your 50th, it’s always a thrill to share images with a wider audience.

But perhaps the best part of the club is its atmosphere. The BPC is a small, welcoming group where conversation flows easily, new members quickly feel at home, and inspiration is shared freely.

Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn or a long-time photographer looking for fresh motivation, you’ll find friendly faces and plenty of encouragement.

Most of all, Beach Photo Club is a place for photography enthusiasts to connect — to swap tips, try new things, and enjoy making images together. It’s amazing how much creativity can grow when surrounded by people who share the same passions.

Drop-ins are always welcome, as are new members seeking to join, at the Beach Photo Club. (Speaker nights have a $10 non-member door charge).
