The driver of a pickup truck has been charged with impaired driving in connection with an incident in which a vehicle crashed into a nail salon and spa on Kingston Road last night.
At approximately 10:26 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, police responded to reports that a vehicle had collided with a building near the intersection of Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue.
Police arrived at Star Nails & Spa, 996 Kingston Rd., between Bingham Avenue and Kingswood Road, to investigate the crash and to try and find driver of the vehicle who police alleged had fled the scene after colliding with the building.
According to police, the vehicle’s Impact with the building caused a gas leak.
Police remained on scene with Toronto Fire and a maintenance crew to contain the gas leak and temporarily repair the damage with wood panels on Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
Roads around the intersection remained closed for a short time before reopening for vehicular traffic.
A Beach Community News Metro reporter visited the scene earlier this morning and was provided surveillance footage of the incident.
A surveillance video captured by one of the spa’s security cameras shows that the driver was operating a white pickup truck with another person in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

In the video, the truck can be seen heading east on Kingston Road before turning and accelerating over the sidewalk into the glass storefront. The driver then reversed the vehicle and continued heading east on Kingston Road.
According to reports, the vehicle also allegedly struck three other parked vehicles.
Police alleged the driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene but was located nearby shortly after and charged with impaired driving.
