The view in the photograph above is looking eastward on Queen Street East by Balsam Avenue.

The year is 1967. Little did Toronto Maple Leafs fans know that it was the last time Lord Stanley’s Cup would be hoisted in Maple Leaf Gardens.

I could say we will win the cup this year, but when this photo appeared in the April 1 print edition of Beach Metro Community News it was April Fools’ Day.
