Morgans on the Danforth holds fundraiser tonight for Environmental Defence Canada

Morgans on the Danforth will be holding an event on Thursday, March 7 in support of Environmental Defence Canada.

The event will run from 5 to 10 p.m. and will take place at the restaurant at 1282 Danforth Ave..

Morgans on the Danforth is partnering with Beau’s Brewery for the refreshments, with 10 per cent of all food and drink sales going towards helping the environment.

Morgans owner, Elinor Laffey, stressed the fact that only two per cent of all philanthropy goes towards environmental causes. She added that although she has had many great years of being a restaurant owner, she became concerned for the environment and wanted to do more.

“It’s one thing to be successful at the end of your life, but it’s not going to make the world a better place,” Laffey said.

This is the first fundraiser Laffey has planned for environmental support, and she added that she hopes to continue these events annually.

Along with their regular pub nights, Morgans on the Danforth will feature an environmental trivia quiz, speakers from the Danforth community and from Environmental Defence, and more at tonight’s event which is open to all ages.

“I just want people in the younger generation, and people in general, to be more mindful of the environment,” she said.
