Remembrance Day Door Poppy sales help raise funds for local Royal Canadian Legion branch

The Door Poppy campaign in support of local Royal Canadian Legion programs is continuing this week in advance of Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.
This will be the seventh straight year Rockett has created the large tissue paper door poppies that residents can buy to display on their doors or in their windows.
Funds raised from the sale of the door poppies will go to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1/42 on Coxwell Avenue and its veterans’ support programs.
Rockett makes the door poppies under a special licence granted by the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund.
Some of the programs supported by the Legion Poppy Fund include help for veterans facing homelessness, service dogs for those dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and donations to veteran’s homes and care facilities.
Cost for the door poppies is $10, and they can be pre-ordered by sending an email to doorpoppies@gmail.com anytime.
For those who wish to pick up the door poppies in person, Rockett will be available with them at a number of local locations over the next several days.
She will be at the Beaches Recreation Centre, 6 Williamson Rd., on Nov. 3 and 4 from 2 to 6 p.m.; at Legion Branch 1/42, 242 Coxwell Ave., on Nov. 2 and Nov. 5 from 3 to 8 p.m., on Nov. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m., and Nov. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m.; and DeClute Real Estate, Beech Avenue and Queen Street East, on Nov. 6 from 2 to 5 p.m.
