An East Toronto sinkhole in which a dump truck was stuck in on Saturday, Oct. 24, is now being repaired.

“City of Toronto crews continue repair work at the sinkhole near Eastwood Road and Bowmore Road,” said a statement to Beach Metro Community News sent by the city’s media relations department on the morning of Monday, Oct. 26.

“We recognize the impact this has had on residents and appreciate everyone’s patience as repairs continue. The dump truck has been removed from the sinkhole, and water service has been restored to all affected properties. The affected section of the road will remain closed while repairs continue,” said the city’s statement.

A front wheel of the dump truck broke through the pavement into the sinkhole on Eastwood Road just east of Bowmore Road on the afternoon of Oct. 24 at approximately 2:20 p.m.

No one was injured in the incident. A number of properties in the area temporarily had water service shut off while the damage was assessed, the dump truck removed and repairs started.
