Royal Canadian Legion to hold 66th annual parade and ceremony in honour of veterans buried at Scarborough’s Pine Hills Cemetery

For the last 65 years, the Royal Canadian Legion Zone D5 has paid tribute to the more than 7,500 veterans that are buried in Pine Hills Cemetery at 625 Birchmount Rd., in southwest Scarborough.
And on Sunday, Sept. 13, the Legion returns for its 66th annual veterans’ ceremony.
“As proud supporters of Canadian veterans and their families, Zone D5 of the Royal Canadian Legion fully supports this event every year. It is our way of telling them and their families that ‘We Will Remember Them’,” said Linda Foster, Pine Hills Parade Chair.
In her statement to Beach Metro Community News, she urged local residents and businesses in the area to come out on Sunday to remember the sacrifices of the veterans who served for all Canadians.
The event will begin with a form up gathering at 1:30 p.m. at Circle 7 of the cemetery before commencing a march at 1:45 p.m. to the veterans’ section. At 2 p.m., visitors will gather for the official ceremony to pay tribute to the veterans.
In the broader scope, this also year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion.
