Main pool and tot pool at Birchmount Community Centre are open again

Birchmount Community Centre is reopening the doors to its main pool and tot pool following a recent closure for scheduled maintenance.
The pool’s reopening was announced in a Facebook and Instagram post yesterday evening, as well as a $20-million dollar city investment for “major State of Good Repair improvements to the facility” slated for next year.
“We’re pleased to share that repairs to the main pool and tot pool are now complete, and both are scheduled to reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18,” said the post on the evening of Aug. 17.
Maintenance at the facility had faced several delays before reopening, and that the site’s “conversation pool” will remain closed for several more days as it continues to undergo repairs.
Back in July of last year, the city temporarily closed Birchmount Pool after the facility’s HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) machines malfunctioned, causing humidex readings to reach between 40 C and 45 C, according to Birchmount Pool’s union president.
