Portions of Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway closed this Sunday morning for Supertri Toronto

Local residents need to be aware of some significant road closures on Sunday, July 26, as the 13th annual Supertri Toronto returns to the city. 

Formerly known as the Toronto Triathlon Festival, the event will see thousands of athletes take part in a 1.5-kilometre swim, 40-kilometre bike ride and 10-kilometre run centered around Exhibition Place and portions of Lake Shore Boulevard West.

The most notable closures that will impact East Toronto residents will be the eastbound Gardiner Expressway lanes from the Humber River to the Don Valley Parkway and the Don Valley Parkway northbound from the Gardiner to Eglinton Avenue.

Both highways will be closed from 2 a.m. until noon on Sunday, July 26.

Also, the westbound curb lane of Lake shore Boulevard West from New Brunswick Way to British Columbia Road will be closed from 5 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. The eastbound curb lane from Ontario Drive to approximately 300 metres east of British Columbia Road will be closed from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.

For anybody heading in or out of the city on Sunday, consider alternate routes, and allow for extra travel time to ensure safe and smooth travel.
