Man faces charges after number of alleged assaults in the Danforth and Coxwell avenues area

Toronto police are requesting the public’s assistance in an assault investigation after a man was charged in relation to multiple alleged incidents in East Toronto last Friday.
Police said officers responded to several assault calls near Coxwell and Danforth avenues on Friday, June 12, at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Police alleged a man assaulted several people with a weapon and also damaged several vehicles in the area.
Tharshan Thaparanantham, 41, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, 12 counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of mischief to property under $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
In a news release, police said Investigators believe that there may be more witnesses and victims.
An image of the suspect has been released in the hopes that people with information will come forward.
