Toronto Votes 2026: Nine candidates now registered to run for councillor in Beaches-East York

There are now nine candidates seeking the position of councillor in Beaches-East York in this fall’s municipal election.
As of 9:30 a.m. on June 12, the races for councillor in Beaches-East York, Scarborough Southwest and Toronto-Danforth all had candidates registered to run.
In Beaches-East York, nine candidates have so far registered to run for the council seat in this fall’s Toronto municipal election.
They are: James Dann, Natalie Johnson, Tycen Legg, Kevin Morrison, Adam Smith, Austin Vieira, Jeff Wahl, Devin Wilkins, and Jennie Worden.
The race to be the Ward 19 Beaches-East York representative on Toronto Council is expected to have a large number of candidates since the seat will not be sought by the incumbent as current councillor Brad Bradford has registered to run for mayor in this year’s municipal election.
In Toronto-Danforth, Susan Chapelle and Jason Stevens have registered for the council race. Paula Fletcher currently serves as the councillor for Toronto-Danforth.
In Scarborough Southwest, Malik Ahmed, Rachel-Ariel Karokis, Philip Mills, Sharmina Nasrin, and Mohammad Ali Reza are registered for the council race. Parthi Kandavel serves the ward as the current councillor.
Candidates have until Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. to register to run for the positions of mayor, city councillor, or school trustee. This year’s municipal elections will take place on Monday, Oct. 26.
