Man, 26, charged in connection with alleged assault on streetcar near Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault that took place on a streetcar last month in the Beach.

According to police, officers responded to a call for a reported assault on Sunday, May 17, at 7:52 p.m. in the area of Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue.

Police said the suspect and victim were on a streetcar in the area. Allegedly, a man assaulted the victim unprovoked before fleeing the area, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

In a news release on the morning of Friday, June 12, police said Tahjae Williams, 26, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with with assault causing bodily harm.
