Toronto Beaches Children and Youth Chorus performs Disney’s Frozen at annual musical this Friday and Saturday

The Toronto Beaches Children and Youth Chorus (TBCYC) will be presenting Disney’s Frozen at its annual spring musical on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23.
The performances are the result of months of rehearsals, auditions, and community led production work.
The annual musical brings together every section of the choir, with performers ranging from junior kindergarten students to Grade 12 youth singers.
Preparation for the musical has been in the works for months, with older kids getting to audition for a small, medium or large role based on comfort level, while younger kids typically perform as a member of the ensemble, in order to gain stage experience.
While students perform and take centre stage, production is led by volunteer parents and guardians behind the scenes.
From painting sets and sewing costumes, to tracking down props and building stage pieces, families come together as a whole to bring the story to life.
“It’s a lovely group of parents, and everyone is so great,” said Andrea Sloggett, TBCYC’s Event and Production Manager.
“We’ve had up to like 50 volunteers kind of saying which area they’re an expert at or can help out at, and then we had a group of, maybe 15 parents we met on Sundays at the church and we painted all of these sets. This production wouldn’t come together so nicely without everybody’s help. It’s really great to see.”
The performances will take place on Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 23, at 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m, at Hart House Theatre on University of Toronto’s St. George Campus.
Tickets are available at $35 for adults and $18 for those 17 and under. Ticket sales will go to support the TBCYC.
