Neil McNeil, Notre Dame track and field teams earn honours at Toronto meet

Neil McNeil Catholic High School continued its dominance at the Toronto District Catholic (Colleges) Athletic Association (TDCAA) track and field championships last week.
Neil McNeil won the Overall Boys Title at the meet for the sixth year in a row, and also swept all three age division championships for the fifth consecutive year.
The meet took place at Rob Ford Stadium in Etobicoke’s Centennial Park on May 13 and 14.
The Neil McNeil team accumulated 33 medals in total at the meet with the Novice boys winning 17, the Senior boys winning nine, and the Junior boys winning seven.
With the team’s success at the TDCAA meet, Neil McNeil qualified 44 athletes for the Metro Track and Field Championships that will take place from May 26 to 28 at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough.

Also putting in a strong performance at the TDCAA meet on May 14 was the track and field team from Notre Dame Catholic High School.
The team finished second overall, with the novice team taking home first place honours along with a new banner to be displayed at the school.
The all-girls high school ended the meet with an impressive collection of medals, showing off the weeks of training and preparation put in by the Notre Dame track and field team members.
Grace Thomson won three gold medals; Ella Sun won two gold medals, Chloe Zarzoso won a gold and a bronze; Addy Salmon won two silvers and a bronze; Jules McCague won two silver medals; Emma Minxolli and Kaydona Taitt each won a silver medal; and Ruby Broughton and Angie Liontas each won a bronze medal.
Health and Physical Education teacher and coach Kyle Toth, said that the team members are excited to be taking part in the upcoming Metro Track and Field Championships at Birchmount Stadium.
