The Earth Day Globe Walk made its way across Toronto on Saturday, April 18.

The walk recognizes Earth Day (April 22), and was held to highlight a number of concerns including the need for Ontario to triple its use of renewable energy and phase out its fossil gas plants, and to respect Indigenous land rights. Walk participants and supporters were encouraged to sign a petition regarding the above concerns which will be presented at the Ontario Legislature on Earth Day (today).

The walk started at Bluffer’s Park in Scarborough and made stops in East Toronto as it headed west along Danforth Avenue at both East Lynn Park and Withrow Park. The Earth Day Global Walk concluded on the evening of April 18 at Humber Bay Shores Park in Etobicoke.

Toronto East Residents for Renewable Energy (TERRE) were among the groups supporting the walk and its participants in the trek across the city.
