The City of Toronto opened all five of its municipal golf courses, including southwest Scarborough’s Dentonia Park, this morning.

The opening celebration took place at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, at Dentonia Park Golf Course which is located on the east side of Victoria Park Avenue a bit north of Danforth Avenue.

Toronto-Danforth Councillor Paula Fletcher, who is also the Chair of Toronto’s Infrastructure and Environment Committee, was on hand to officially open the golf season at Dentonia Park.

“Opening the season at Dentonia golf course is very special to me, as it’s a course I play regularly. Every time I’m here, I see people of all ages and skill levels on the fairways from young people, seniors, women and beginners to more seasoned golfers, learning from one another and sharing a love of the game,” said Fletcher in a city news release about this morning’s opening.

The other four golf courses run by the city are Tam 0’Shanter (Scarborough), Don Valley (North York), Humber Valley (Etobicoke) and Scarlett Woods (Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue area).

“As Dentonia Park Golf Course tees off on a new season, I’m wishing all those in the community an enjoyable and successful season on the green,” said Scarborough Southwest Councillor Parthi Kandavel in today’s news release

The municipally run golf courses in Toronto are meant to offer affordable and high-quality time outdoors for a round of golf, at any skill level. All five of the golf courses are easily accessible by the TTC. Dentonia Park is just steps away from the Victoria Park subway station.

For the 2026 golf season, the city did clubhouse renovations at both Tam O’Shanter and Dentonia Park golf courses for improvement to visitors’ golfing experience.

This season there will be a variety of available activities at all five of Toronto’s municipal courses, including 30 free junior learn-to-golf clinics, 40 free women and seniors community events, 45 summer camps for ages seven to 14 years and league-play including women’s-only leagues. There will also be discounted senior and junior green fees.

According to a city, the popularity of golf among Toronto youth continues to grow with a record-breaking high of 250,000 rounds played in 2025, and more than 15,000 by youth members.

Tee-off start times can be booked up to seven days in advance on the the City of Toronto’s website, with equipment rentals available in-person at the clubhouse pro shop.

As daylight hours increase, tee times adjust to allow for more dawn to dusk play, but are slotted in 10-minute intervals.
