Public meeting on plan for 11-storey building on Woodbine Avenue near Kingston Road set for April 1

This rendering shows what was a proposed 12-storey mixed-use building on Woodbine Avenue. The proposal, for 419, 421, 423, and 425 Woodbine Ave., has now been reduced to 11 storeys in height.

A public meeting on an updated development application for a site on Woodbine Avenue just south of Kingston Road will be held on Wednesday, April 1.

The proposal for 419, 421, 423, and 425 Woodbine Ave. will be discussed prior to the meeting of Toronto and East York Community Council and will take place starting at 9:30 a.m. at Toronto City Hall, Committee Room 1. The meeting will also be shown by video conference at www.youtube.com/TorontoCityCouncilLive.

The current proposal at the site calls for an 11-storey mixed-use building with 123 residential units (including 11 rental replacement units) and a two-level underground garage with 124 vehicular parking spaces and 124 bicycle parking spaces.

The latest proposal is slightly smaller than the previous 12-storey, 137-unit building announced by the developer early last year.

An existing four-storey residential building at the site, which is just south of Kingston Road on the east side of Woodbine Avenue, will be demolished.

The new building will include units for the 11 tenants currently living at the location a part of the city’s rental replacement policy.

During the April 1 community council meeting, councillors will receive input and review the proposal before making recommendations which will later be forwarded to Toronto Council for further consideration.

Residents can send written comments or register to address council directly by emailing teycc@toronto.ca, or by calling 647-392-7033. Comments may also be sent by mail to 100 Queen St. W., 2nd Floor, M5H 2N3

Please note that those registering to address council directly must do so no later than 12 p.m. on March 31. After registering, city staff will reach out with instructions on how to participate in the meeting.
