Residents are invited to join staff and project partners from the City of Toronto, Waterfront Toronto and CreateTO for an open house on plans for the Port Lands.

The open house takes place on Tuesday, March 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre, 870 Queen St. E.

Hosted by LURA Consulting for the City of Toronto, the open house will provide information on the history and future of the Port Lands, with latest news on the Port Lands Planning Framework, Don River revitalization, Biidaasige Park, Indigenous collaboration and cultural revitalization, Ookwemin Minising and the McCleary District.

Speakers will talk about housing, development interests, sustainable communities, transit, accessibility, public art, local economy and other topics.

The area from Toronto’s west Inner Harbour and east to Leslie Street, and Lake Shore Boulevard East south toward the outer harbour, known as the Port Lands, spans 356 hectares of filled-in marshland along Lake Ontario.

This area is currently used for industrial space and as a functioning port, hosting a combination of natural resources, industrial and heritage spots with numerous film studios supporting Toronto’s film sector. Due to the growing need for development supporting housing and business, multiple planning initiatives are being undertaken to develop the area.

At 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on March 10, the project team will share brief remarks on the project (with both time slots offering the same information) to accommodate a larger number of attendees.

Registration will not be required but available seating will be limited. For more information on the open house or to reserve a spot, please go to https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/port-lands-open-house-from-plan-to-place-tickets-1982831475319?aff=oddtdtcreator
