Beacher Kate Davis to release comedy special In-Laws and Outlaws on Family Day

BY KAT BERGERON
Beacher and comedian Kate Davis will be releasing her new comedy special In-Laws and Outlaws, on YouTube this coming Family Day.
The special, to be released on Monday, Feb. 16, will talk about the chaos in Davis’ life, as a part of the “Sandwich Generation”, living in a multigenerational household with three kids and her mother-in-law, while also talking about her 30 years of marriage.
“Times have definitely changed here, and it’s just picking up on the social commentary, but mostly it’s about family, from raising my kids to the relationship between my husband and I, to living with my mother-in-law and moving her in after some tax evasion issues, said Davis in an interview with Beach Metro Community News.
“Anyway, so, yeah, that’s why it’s called In-laws and Outlaws, because it’s all about family.”
Davis is also a keynote public speaker, podcaster, moderator, panelist, interviewer, actress and award-winning author. She has spoken for clients such as RBC, Hydro One and the Ministry of the Environment, opening conferences with humour.
Through sharing laughs and real-life experiences, Davis aims to “connect people”, which is why she is considered a “connectivity expert” or Team Building & Stress Management Expert, according to Speakers Bureau of Canada, for these types of events.
As an author, Davis has written about motherhood in her book The Breastfeeding Diaries in 2008 (which won an iParenting Media Award) and more recently in Second Best Mom – Stories, Tips and Okay Advice which released in 2025.
“I’ve written two books. One was called the breastfeeding diaries, just fun stories about moms and breastfeeding, and that was with Meadowbrook Press in the (United) States. And then my second book was called Second Best mom, and it’s all about raising my kids, and I wrote one story a month for over a decade about that, and then put it into a book,” said Davis. “So it’s a lot of fun. It’s just the ups and downs and craziness of parenting.”
Davis is also currently writing her third book, Humor in the C Suite, which is all about using humour in the workplace to better work culture, interviewing leaders, executives and business owners.
Nominated 12 times for the Canadian Comedy Award and Phil Hartman Award, Davis won a Canadian Comedy Award for the web series Best Before. She also has 21 credits in film and television, between producing, writing and acting projects, for CBC, NBC, Star TV, CTV’S Comedy Network, TVO, Rogers cable and Toronto Board of Education, among others.
Among her credits with CBC are CBC Radio One Sunday Morning Show, Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters as a performer and writer. She has toured across Canada and internationally, since 2011.
Davis has been a Beach resident for the past three decades.
“Community is a huge part of my story, raising my kids here, the last 30 years,” she said.
The In-Laws and Outlaws special was recorded at the Comedy Bar on Danforth Avenue, just east of Main Street.
