A road closure for Logan Avenue between Dundas Street East and Gerrard Street East is planned for this weekend so that rail bridge construction can take place.

The closure will begin at on Friday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m. and continue through until Monday, Jan. 19, at 5 a.m.

Motorists need to be aware that the closure may temporarily impact traffic flow in the area.

The rail bridge work will see provincial transit agency Metrolinx install steel girders to support the bridge as part of transit improvements in the area including the Ontario Line subway which is now under construction.

Area residents are being asked to plan ahead, as vehicular traffic, pedestrians and cyclists will not be permitted below the Logan Avenue bridge during this leg of the project. Traffic will be diverted both ways through Dundas Street East., Carlaw Avenue and Gerrard Street East. Access for local traffic will be maintained south of Gerrard Street East and north of Dundas Street East.

Currently, there are signs in place for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to learn of the upcoming closure. At each end of the road closure, officers will be onsite to help local residents navigate, as well as signs to be posted at Gerrard Street East and Dundas Street East to direct drivers around the Logan Avenue closure.

As part of this weekend’s work on the Logan Avenue rail bridge, some overnight construction will take place but the majority will be slotted during the day to minimize overnight noise.
