Gerrard Street East closed to vehicle traffic east of Ted Reeve Drive due to gas leak

Gerrard Street East is closed between Ted Reeve Drive and Malvern Avenue this afternoon while emergency crews deal with a gas leak.

Police are blocking off eastbound vehicle traffic at Ted Reeve Drive. Westbound traffic on Gerrard Street East is blocked off at Malvern Avenue. Drivers are being encouraged to find alternate routes.

Also, pedestrians are not allowed to walk on Gerrard Street East between Wayland and Malvern avenues while crews deal with the situation.

Toronto Fire was called to the scene of a reported gas leak on Gerrard Street East shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.

No injuries have been reported due to the gas leak.

It is not known at this time how long Gerrard Street East will be closed for the gas leak.
