A pair of tree lighting ceremonies hosted by Toronto-Danforth Councillor Paula Fletcher are slated for next week.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, a tree lighting celebration is set for Withrow Park, 725 Logan Ave., at 5:30 p.m. The evening includes live performances, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa. The festive musical cheer will be brought by Riverdale Share and Kitchen Music Studios.

On Friday, Dec. 5, a tree lighting ceremony will take place at Dieppe Park, 455 Cosburn Ave., at 5:30 p.m. There will be hot chocolate and skating at this celebration. For those who do not own skates, the City of Toronto’s Skate Lending Library will be by the ice trail at Dieppe Park from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5. Skate Aids will also be available to help beginners.

The Dieppe Park celebration is being co-hosted by Toronto-Danforth Toronto District School Board Trustee Sara Ehrhardt.

At both of next week’s tree lighting ceremonies, those attending are encouraged to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Bethany Baptist Food Bank, as well as other local food banks helping those in need during the holiday season.
