Beach residents urged to cheer on runners at today’s TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Queen Street East in the Beach will be closed this morning (Sunday, Oct. 19) for the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

Today’s full road closure along Queen Street East between Woodbine and Beech avenues will be from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

One of Toronto’s largest athletic events, the marathon attracts more than 30,000 participants and 100,000 spectators.

The 42.2-kilometre full marathon, and 21.1-kilometre half marathon are today, as is the wheelchair marathon race.

Other road closures affecting Beach residents today are Woodbine Avenue between Queen Street East and Lake Shore Boulevard East from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: and Lake Shore Boulevard East between Woodbine and Carlaw avenues from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Other road closures that East Toronto residents need to be aware of today are Carlaw Avenue between Lake Shore Boulevard East and Eastern Avenue; and Eastern Avenue (and Front Street) from Carlaw all the way to Jarvis Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local residents are encouraged to cheer on the runners as they make way through the city’s neighbourhoods.

The turnaround point on Queen Street East in the Beach (between Balsam and Beech avenues) is the far eastern point of the marathon’s race route.
