An information session on upcoming plans for the Danforth GO station will be hosted by Metrolinx today (Thursday, Oct. 9) from 4 to 8 p.m.

The session will take place inside the Danforth GO station building at 213 Main St. just south of Danforth Avenue.

Metrolinx representatives will be present to answer questions from residents and guests about the early works progress, and the planned construction work at the station site.

Metrolinx is the provincial transit agency tasked with leading, designing and delivering transit systems in Ontario.

Major changes will include a new south platform, extension of the pedestrian tunnel and a new ancillary building.

The session is also expected to cover concerns over potential impacts to the community, including closures, noise disturbances and tree clearing.

The early work activities began on Sept. 19 of this year and are scheduled to continue until spring of 2026. The actual construction will commence starting in the fall 2026, and is expected to be complete by 2029.

Among the proposals in the planned work is the closure of the south entrance to the pedestrian tunnel that goes under the tracks from the Ted Reeve Walkways to the station on the north side of the tracks. Also proposed as part of the work will be the closure of the Ted Reeve Walkway and the Little York Walkway (which goes under the Main Street bridge) from 2027 to 2029.
