Metrolinx information sessions on future plans for Danforth GO station set for Oct. 2 and 9

Curious about what’s next for the Danforth GO station? Metrolinx is inviting local residents to two public information sessions this month on future plans for the station.
The first session takes place today (Thursday, Oct. 2) at the station, 213 Main St., from 4 to 8 p.m.
The second session is set for Thursday, Oct. 9, also from 4 to 8 p.m. at the station.
Metrolinx representatives will be present to answer questions from residents and guests about the early works progress, and the planned construction work at the station site.
Major changes will include a new south platform, extension of the pedestrian tunnel and a new ancillary building. The presentation is also expected to cover concerns over potential impacts to the community, including closures, noise disturbances and tree clearing.
The early work activities began on Sept. 19 of this year and are scheduled to continue until spring of 2026. The actual construction will commence starting in the fall 2026, and is expected to be complete by 2029.
In a note to Beach Metro Community News, a local resident said he was interested in seeing the full plans for the Danforth GO station upgrade as he was interested in finding out more about the plans to relocate the station approximately 500 metres to the east, and how the track for the Lake Shore East GO line expansion will be accommodated in the area.
“I am particularly interested in future pedestrian access to the newly located station, and plans for facilitating journeys that involve transferring between Danforth GO station and Main Street TTC subway station give the much longer walk that will be required,” added the resident.
