Police say discovery of man’s body on Wheeler Avenue at Queen Street East not a ‘criminal matter’

Toronto police said that the discovery of a body on Wheeler Avenue just north of Queen Street East this morning is not considered suspicious.

Police responded to a call at 6:05 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, for reports of a man’s body on Wheeler Avenue close to the west side curb.

“A man was located who was pronounced deceased,” said Toronto police on X (formerly Twitter) this morning.

“This is not being treated as suspicious and is not a criminal matter. No further information will be provided,” said police in a later statement on X shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.

As of 9:45 a.m. today, Wheeler was closed directly north of Queen Street East with three police trucks blocking the road while the body of the man remained on the street under an orange covering.
