Police seek man after alleged assault with a machete in East York

Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Hamilton man wanted in connection with an alleged assault involving a machete earlier this week in East York.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Pape and Gamble avenues at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, for reports of unknown trouble.

When officers arrived they found the victim who had allegedly been assaulted by a man wielding a machete. According to police, the man allegedly waited for the victim to come home and then became involved in an altercation. The suspect pulled out a machete and assaulted the victim, police alleged.

The suspect then fled in a silver BMW sedan.

Cristian Sandor, 28, of Hamilton, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

He is described as five-feet, nine-inches tall, with a large build and short black hair.

An image has been released of Sandor in the hopes that someone can make police aware of his whereabouts.
