Beaches win in overtime to even up OJLL playoff series against Whitby; Game Three slated for tonight

Toronto Beaches won Game Two in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League’s second round playoff series against the Whitby Warriors last night. Game Three in the best-of-seven series is set for tonight (July 25) at the Pickering Recreation Complex.

Hunter Lubiniecki scored in overtime to give the Toronto Beaches Junior A lacrosse team a 6-5 victory over the Whitby Warriors in Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) second round playoff action last night.

Lubiniecki’s goal to decide Game Two in Whitby on the night of Thursday, July 24, evened up the best-of-seven series at one win for each team.

Game Three of the series goes tonight (Friday, July 25) at the Pickering Recreation Complex (1867 Valley Farm Rd.) at 8 p.m., and will be a home game for Toronto Beaches.

Game Four of the series is slated for the afternoon of Sunday, July 27, at Whitby’s Iroqouis Park Sports Centre, 500 Victoria St. W.

Whitby won the first game of the series 10-3 in a match played at the Pickering Recreation Complex which is where the Beaches home games are taking place during the playoffs. The Beaches played their regular season home games at Ted Reeve Arena on Main Street, but the local rink is putting its ice back in.

Game Five of the series will be on Monday, July 28 at the Pickering Recreation Complex at 8 p.m.

If necessary, Game Six will be at Iroquois Park at 7:30 p.m. on July 30; and Game Seven will be at the Pickering Recreation Complex at 8 p.m. on July 31.

The winner of this playoff series will play the winner of the series between the Orangeville Northmen and the Peterborough Lakers for a chance to win the Ontario championship Iroquois Cup.
