Deja Views: Looking back to Main Street in June of 1959

George Taylor recently dropped off this amazing photograph (shown above) at our office on Gerrard Street East. It is June 1959, his sister, Linda is sliding down the slide in the playground of Kimberley Public School.

Linda McQuarrie’s mum, Sylvia, captured this image and in the background we see Main Street with several businesses, a radio and TV repair shop, a shoemaker and Britannia Printers.

Thank you George for sharing this photograph! It’s nice to know this area is still a playground for children!
